The Civil Society Contact Group, which brings together eight large human rights and value-based NGO sectors – culture (represented by Culture Action Europe), environment, education, development, human rights, public health, social and women –, has published a joint statement asking the European Commission to respect fundamental principles of public interest when preparing its communication on the future EU budget, to be published this summer. Collective initiatives and expressions of solidarity are key for civil society organisations, and will become even more so in the months and years to come.
