Cultural Policies

advocacy

This briefing on International Cultural Relations was edited and coordinated by EUNIC and Goethe-Institut and forms part of 10 policy briefings in the discussion paper ‘Towards the Culture Compass: A Sector Blueprint’ published by Culture Action Europe. It outlines why international cultural relations are so important and some ways in which the EU could adopt a more strategic, coherent, and long-term approach embedded in its external action.

A bold graphic announcement for the #CulturalDealEU Annual Policy Conversation 2026. At the centre, a group of raised fists holds a flag reading “WHEN CULTURE WINS, EUROPE WINS!” in neon green. Below: the date (3 February 2026), time (15:00 CET), and location (Brussels). Logos for Culture Action Europe, Europa Nostra, the European Cultural Foundation, and the EU appear along the bottom.
event

The Cultural Deal 2026 event will focus on the strategies and alliances needed to secure a strong cultural and cultural heritage foundation within the next EU budget, a robust civil society dimension across all relevant programmes and a well-conceived, properly resourced AgoraEU program that brings culture, media and European rights and values under one roof.
