Blending together new generations and New Voices of playwrights

April 21, 2023, 4:14 pm

Across a network of 10 countries and 15 organisations active in the field of theatre and dramaturgy, located in all the European regions, Culture Action Europe is happy to join the New Voices project as a partner organisation.

New Voices is here!

New Voices, led by Fabulamundi Playwriting Europe, started on 3rd April with the first online partners’ meeting! Two days dedicated to the project’s kick-off, discussing new methodologies, participatory practices, next steps and shared strategies for future activities. New Voices is the new edition of a successful history of cultural promotion in the name of European values, a three years long project which aims to bring contemporary playwriting closer to the younger generations. With this new path, Fabulamundi aims to approach youngsters through creative writing while creating an international community of playwrights.

New Voices will be structured in 66 Creative Workshops held by 19 European playwrights who compose the FAB Community. The playwrights will travel around Europe in a twinned mobility scheme, meet other peers and teams thanks to the Cross the Map program, as well as exchange insights and thoughts on playwriting through the video series In a New Light.

The FAB Community

19 playwrights from 9 European countries, a geography of voices blended in a multi-lingual, inclusive, and supportive environment. This committed and democratic space provides the opportunity to discover, process, understand, organise, and share experiences with a European generation of emerging playwrights. Crossing disciplinary borders, the FAB Community offers a wide range of workshops developed locally in each partner country and amplified internationally thanks to a twinned mobility scheme. All laboratories involve a second visiting playwright, matched with the resident one, to nurture dialogue and enrich the debate and exchange. The 19 playwrights will mentor a vast audience of youngsters who are called to join the project, and at the same time, are mentored by a group of international experts in a professional training program specifically designed to empower their artistic trajectory and raise their awareness around these core themes: gender and inclusiveness, green theatre and digitisation.
