DISCE Regional Case studies

In 10 publications the DISCE researchers present key facts about each location, with a particular attention to how the ‘creative economy’ has previously been understood, based on a review of existing academic literature, publicly available data, and policy documents.

All case studies answer different questions dealing with several considerations regarding the creative economy in each location. Questions such as who is responsible for the creative economy policy or what are the challenges and opportunities for the creative economy are resolved.

Each paper starts with an overview of the city and provides the reader with facts and figures. Additionally, information about the Socio-Economic and Cultural and Creative profile is offered.

Afterwards, the public policy and research of each individual case study are presented. An overview concerning the public policy and the academic studies is given and Terminology and Stakeholders of Public Policy is elaborated on. This includes the thematic review of public policy documentation which consists of an analysis of creative economy policy & cultural opportunity, creative business development & entrepreneurship and higher education & creative workers.

Finally, all case studies conclude by providing headline findings from the preceding analysis and giving the reader information on DISCE’s approach and the general next steps.
