Statement on the next EU Culture Programme ‘Creative Europe’

February 14, 2012, 6:43 pm

Culture Action Europe, in the framework of the ‘we are more – act for culture in Europe’ campaign welcomes the European Commission’s proposal for Creative Europe but calls for an improved recognition of the social dimension of arts and culture and the importance of risk taking and experimentation.

The European Parliament and EU member states have the right to change whatever they wish to in the European Commission proposal. The EU member states must come to an agreement (ideally a consensus) on the programme within the Cultural Affairs Committee and audiovisual working groups over the coming months. Therefore this is the key moment for all campaign supporters to distribute this statement as broadly as possible – especially to your ministries of culture and European Parliament contacts.

Download the statement in English and French and send it to your Minister of Culture and European Parliament contacts NOW!
