CAE’s reaction to the EP report on ‘Creative Europe’

November 8, 2012, 10:37 am

On the 8th of October, the Member of the European Parliament Silvia Costa (Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, IT), presented her report on the next EU Culture Programme Creative Europe to the Culture Committee. Culture Action Europe (CAE) welcomes Ms Costa’s proposal, which clearly aims at improving the balance between the economic-driven and social-driven objectives foreseen by the initial proposal. Indeed, many of the suggested improvements to the legal basis reflect the demands that, in the past months, CAE has supported. CAE now calls on the EU institutions to support the proposed budget increase and to engage, without further delay, to reach an agreement on Creative Europe as soon as possible (through a so-called first-reading agreement).

Download our full statement here and feel free to use it and forward it to your Minister of Culture and Members in the European Parliament Culture Committee and other decision-makers!
