Advancing Non-Urban Innovation: Insights from IN SITU Project Reports

Discover the latest from the IN SITU project, a four-year initiative aimed at enhancing innovation within cultural and creative industries (CCIs) in non-urban areas of EU countries.

Following the release of the “New Domains in CCIs in non-urban regions” report in October 2023, which delved into diversification opportunities and the influence of occupations and markets on regional development, the project has expanded its efforts. Three new reports have been published, marking significant progress in empowering non-urban CCIs to drive innovation, competitiveness, and sustainability.

  1. The “Socioeconomic Contributions and Spillovers of CCIs in Non-Urban Regions” report assesses the socio-economic impact of creative and cultural workers on innovation. It examines the roles of patents, trademarks, and collective trademarks across various regions.
  2. New Domains in CCIs in Non-Urban Regions” focuses on identifying specialized occupations and markets in European regions, emphasizing cultural and creative activities. It also explores possibilities for consolidation and the emergence of new specializations.
  3. The third report, “Socioeconomic Resilience and Pathways for Growth,” explores recovery strategies from the COVID-19 pandemic. It analyzes relatedness measures for digital occupations and markets, providing insights into resilience across urban and non-urban regions.

Each report offers detailed insights into the socio-economic landscape and growth opportunities within non-urban regions of the European Union.
