European Development Days (EDD) 2019 takes place on 18-19 June in Brussels. This year topic is: “Addressing inequalities: Building a world that leaves no one behind”. As usual, CAE member Interarts will have a strong presence at the EDDs.

In partnership with the British Council, UCLG – Agenda 21 for Culture, UNESCO Brussels office, International Music Council and others, Interarts co-organised a brainstorming lab Promoting gender equality through culture and creativity. Fostering synergies between the creative sectors and gender related strategies to reduce inequalities and for peaceful societies.

Following the launch of a Call to Action during EDD 2018 to foster synergies between gender empowerment and culture strategies in and for cooperation for development, the co-organisers invited relevant stakeholders from other fields (education, health, private sector, territorial development, …) to exchange on its recommendations, share their insight in the cultural dimension of gender inequalities through broader and trans-sectorial perspective to follow up on the call to action, mainstream its recommendations and foster new policy and projects multi-stakeholders cooperations to tackle inequalities through holistic and human centred approaches.

Number of recommendations came up from the lab that will be included into the Call to Action and further disseminated among the stakeholders.
