On the occasion of the European Union’s 69th Birthday, Culture Action Europe celebrates the values on which this Union was founded and calls for the recognition of the role of culture in establishing and maintaining a sense of unity and belonging and in showcasing the EU’s unique diversity.

We believe that a better Europe needs more culture. Culture and Democracy are not independent from one another and a European democratic project needs culture to produce an open, inclusive, fair and diverse symbolic space. This affirmation is at the heart of CAE’s elections campaign and underlies CAE’s position on the future of Europe.

Ahead of today’s meeting at Sibiu on the future of the EU, CAE calls on National Leaders to make culture an integral part of the future of Europe by including culture in the Strategic Agenda 2019 – 2024.

If you, like us, believe that without the explicit recognition of the European project’s cultural dimension, the future of the EU as a common endeavour is difficult to imagine, sign our petition, support the campaign and continue to advocate for the inclusion of culture in every aspect of Europe’s future.

In this EP Elections special newsletter, published on the occasion of Europe Day, learn more why it is important to GO VOTE!, what can you do to support more culture for the #FutureofEurope, what have been the outcomes of the Live Online Dialogue and what MEP candidates have to say about culture and the arts.

Happy long reading!
