Finland taking the presidency of the EU today

From 1 July until 31 December, Finland holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU.
The priorities for Finland’s Presidency of the European Union are to strengthen common values and the rule of law, to make the EU more competitive and socially inclusive, to promote action on climate change and to protect the security of its citizens.
The priorities for Finland’s Presidency are:

The focus relating to culture concerns building inclusive, cohesive, free and open societies to foster democracy as well as sustainability and education. In the field of Audio-Visual, the focus of the Finnish presidency is on promoting the competitiveness and innovation capacity of the European audiovisual and cultural industries.
