INSPIRE: Labour Market Needs Analysis Report

The “Alliance for a Net Positive Performance Arts Sector,” otherwise known as the INSPIRE project, focuses on upscaling the green, digital, entrepreneurial, soft, and resilience skills of existing and prospective performance production managers, set designers, artistic and stage directors, facilities managers, and stage technicians in the Performing Arts Sector. INSPIRE uplifts innovation through strategic cooperation and the flow of knowledge among higher and vocational education and training centres and labour market actors in six European countries active in the Performing Arts Sector.

The Labour Market Needs Report synthesises input from 250 stakeholders from the Performing Arts Sector and has identified learning needs and market demands, enhancing labour market responsiveness.

The ESCO Competences Package for the Sustainable Performing Arts Sector includes the appropriate competencies for upgrading the ESCO occupation profiles of the performance production managers, set designers, artistic and stage directors, facilities managers and stage technicians in the fields of sustainability, entrepreneurship and ICT.

From the research, it became obvious that the current educational and lifelong learning framework does not cater to the skill needs of the professionals and the demands of the market. A few exceptions were identified and can be considered best practices; nevertheless, further resources need to be invested in ensuring upskilling for current and prospective performing arts professionals.
