Civil Society for EU Manifesto

Civil Society Europe serves as the coordinating body for civil society organizations at the EU level. With a diverse membership base, they engage millions of individuals involved with or supported by non-profits and civil society groups throughout the EU. Since its appearing, they has evolved into a key reference point for EU institutions on issues related to civil dialogue and civic space.

Recently, in collaboration with the Social Platform, CSE spearheaded a manifesto emphasizing the crucial role of civil society in the upcoming European Parliamentary Elections.

Across Europe, the space for civil society is under threat, facing restrictive laws, administrative hurdles, and intimidation. These challenges hinder civil society actors from fully realizing their potential. It’s imperative that the EU takes decisive action to reverse these trends over the next five years, creating more opportunities for civil society to amplify people’s voices in policymaking.

We urge the future European Parliament and Commission to adopt an EU-wide Civil Society Strategy and establish an Agreement on Civil Dialogue.
