In October 2020, the Rome Charter Hybrid Conference hosted three days of debates, international interventions and dialogues dedicated to discussing the implications of the 2020 Charter of Rome in the development of sustainable cities and communities through participation in culture. This conference included eleven sessions online, all translated in English and in Italian, some of them held in Spanish and French. The content reflected over 50 stories, common questions and a collective reflection on how to build and develop better societies for the future.

The Institutional Opening discussed why the Charta is important for cities and local governments all around the world and the consideration of the relevance of the Charta in the situation of the current pandemic. Key leaders of UCLG – United Cities and Local Governments as well as the key figures of the international institutions and organizations related to culture and development expressed their views on the Charta.
