The European Union cannot exist without the voice and ideas of a culture so deeply connected to its ancient and modern roots and to the very idea of Europe.
A failure in the negotiations between Greece, the EU leadership and the IMF would be the worst failure of the European project since its foundation. It would be a denial of the fundamental values of solidarity and cohesion which are its cement.
A failure in the negotiations would deny the possibility of turning a crisis that drains the lives of millions, in Greece and in Europe, into a transition to a more sustainable and equitable society.
We call on all parties to take the necessary steps to find a fair agreement. It is what Europe needs and it is the right of all our fellow citizens.
