Rethinking Digital Practices and Spaces: An Urgent Call
Reset! network and a coalition of cultural organisations have launched an open letter addressing the urgent need for ethical, transparent, and human-centred approaches to digital transformation within the Creative Europe programme. Culture Action Europe has already signed the open letter.
We cultural and media players who benefit from EU funds, ask the European Commission and its Creative Europe funding programme to take the threats caused by the growing power of digital capitalism represented by tech giants into due consideration, and to take a leading role in tackling them.
In a context where the ethics and monopolistic market position of social media platforms and corporate-owned digital tools have become a serious matter of concern, we request that the European Commission and its Creative Europe funding programme, take these threats into consideration and take a leading role in tackling them.
We, 20+ European cultural and media actors, networks, cooperation projects, and platforms request that European institutions consider this important moment as a shift, and to take the due action to promote digital independence in the European cultural and media context.
Join us and sign this initiative for ethical frameworks and accountability in digital tools and platforms.
