CAE is looking for a Policy & Project Intern

Culture Action Europe is looking for a policy and project intern for the period of September-December 2020. The ideal candidate should be based in Brussels and willing to join a busy, international team of CAE.

Required Background

  • Degree in Political Science, Law, European Studies, Cultural Management, Cultural Studies
  • Keen interest in cultural policies and European politics
  • Good organisational skills, an eye for details and ability to prioritise a busy and varied workload
  • Proficient spoken and written English;  French and/or other European languages is an asset
  • Strong research and writing skills 
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently under supervision 
  • Strong interpersonal skills 

Asset

  • Interest in working  in a EU policy environment 
  • Interest in event management/ administrative work reporting
  • A demonstrated interest in crosscutting topics such as sustainability and social rights (and/or a focus on freedom of artistic expression, working and living conditions for culture professional or artistic research) would be advantageous

Main tasks

  • Support drafting of statements, policy documents, positions, blog posts
  • Conduct background researches
  • News monitoring
  • Preparation of presentations
  • Support drafting of project proposals and reports
  • Support the organisation of meetings and events
  • Support the office administration and logistics
  • Event reporting

Given the possible second wave of COVID-19, the ideal candidate should be based in Brussels and be available for 4 months. Depending on the pandemic situation in the internship period, a combination of home and office work can be envisioned. As an intern at CAE, you will gain a thorough insight into the workings of a major advocacy organisation in Brussels and at the European level.

Interviews will be conducted online between the end of July and the first week of August. Only candidates selected for the interviews will be contacted.

Priority will be given to students wishing to combine academic research in the course of their studies and the internship and to students coming with an Erasmus+ grant or equivalent. A modest financial contribution towards costs linked to the execution of the internship will be provided, but the ability to source additional funding is an advantage.
