The Beyond Zine is OUT!
We are thrilled to announce that the BEYOND Zine is now complete and available for all to explore. This collaborative publication is the creative heartbeat of the BEYOND 2025: Being Many gathering, held from 4–7 June in Turin, Italy. It captures the voices, visions, and reflections of participants who came together to imagine new models of cultural leadership, solidarity, and collective action.
The BEYOND Zine is a vibrant mosaic of creative expressions—poems, sketches, photographs, collages, and personal reflections—that delve into themes of resistance, inclusivity, and participatory governance. Each submission offers a unique perspective on what it means to “be many” in today’s cultural landscape.
The creation of the BEYOND Zine was a participatory process that unfolded throughout the event. Participants were invited to contribute their creative works via email, social media, or in-person submissions at the registration desk. An open Zine workshop on 6 June provided a space for spontaneous creations and collaborative efforts.
Juana Tatay, Communications Trainee at Culture Action Europe, oversaw the process of creating and engaging participants in contributing to the zine. “If we go back to the origins of fanzines, they started outside the mainstream, as an alternative to traditional publishing. That alone felt like the perfect metaphor for all of us working in culture. Because this sector has the powerful ability, and maybe even responsibility, to maneuver through established structures differently. And in the process is where the real transformation happens, which is the same case of this zine.”
This collaborative approach of developing the zine not only fostered a sense of community but also embodied the very principles of participatory governance and cultural democracy that BEYOND 2025 aimed to explore.
