Pearle’s 10 Priorities for the Performing Arts

In anticipation of the European Parliament elections held last week, Pearle* – Live Performance Europe joined forces with the creative and cultural sectors to urge all candidates to support culture and the performing arts by including the sectors’ priorities in their manifestos.

A few days after the election results, as the new – yet familiar – European Parliament’s future dynamics are being shaped, it is crucial to maintain an open channel of communication with the political groups that will shape the next agenda. This is essential to truly elevate culture to the central role it deserves.

With this in mind, Pearle* has identified 10 priority areas for the performing arts sector and calls on European political parties to lead by incorporating these demands into their programmes.

These priority areas encompass funding, digital innovation, sustainability, cross-border mobility, and artistic freedom. They are at the heart of Pearle*’s efforts at the European level and are pivotal for building a sustainable future for live performance organisations.

The European Parliament and its members have the power to initiate and collaborate on legislation with other European institutions. The outcome of these elections presents an opportunity for new MEPs to shape policies that address the challenges and aspirations of European citizens.
