Mapping Cultural and Creative Sector Working Conditions in the EU
A new tool now offers freshly updated insights into artists’ status and social security across the 27 EU Member States. Developed under the EU Work Plan for Culture 2023-2026, this initiative is a collaboration between Creative FLIP and other cultural organizations.
This comprehensive resource provides essential information on the regulatory status of artists and cultural professionals, social security frameworks, labour rights and working conditions, learning opportunities and skill development, as well as artistic freedom and policy changes. The platform compiles extensive research and data, offering comparative mappings and issue-based analyses, which help policymakers and professionals understand national differences in policies and regulations, access up-to-date data on working conditions, engage in informed discussions on legislative changes, and share best practices across the EU. It serves as a valuable tool for fostering international cooperation and improving the professional landscape for those working in the cultural and creative industries.
By centralizing crucial knowledge, this initiative empowers cultural professionals and decision-makers to build a fairer and more sustainable cultural and creative sector across Europe. As the sector continues to evolve, having a clear understanding of working conditions will support more effective policies and practices.
