Aware of the devastating effects of the war on Ukraine’s civil society, cultural, creative and heritage sectors as well as artists, the European Parliament’s CULT Committee invited leading European organisations in the cultural sector and the co-initiators of the #CulturalDealEU campaign (Culture Action Europe, European Cultural Foundation and Europa Nostra) for an exchange of views on a wide mobilisation for solidarity actions at all levels– from the EU, national and local, to philanthropic or civil society initiatives and grass-roots voluntary actions.
The hearing looked at how to combine available strategic resources in innovative public-philanthropic mechanisms to give emergency support to the cultural and heritage sectors in Ukraine. Members of European and Ukrainian cultural organisations, the Commission and the European External Action Service participated in the exchange of views.
