#CulturalDealEU ahead of the 2024 European elections
The Cultural Deal for Europe, a collaborative campaign led by CAE alongside the European Cultural Foundation and Europa Nostra, is gearing up for the approaching European parliamentary elections. Alongside the open letter advocating for culture’s prominent role in the 2024 electoral campaigns, the CDEU recently received insights from MEP Sabine Verheyen, emphasising the necessity to reaffirm our commitment to culture as the “cornerstone of European unity and resilience“.
In the video below, Sabine Verheyen, Chair of the Committee on Culture and Education, addresses a series of crucial questions:
“What potential does culture hold for Europe?”
“How can we elevate the status of culture in EU strategies and policies?”
“What collaborative efforts can politicians and cultural civil society undertake?”
“Culture can do so much more than what we often realise, it fosters a sense of belonging that transcends borders, uniting us in our diversity, serving as a bridge to our local communities, it reflects their unique needs and challenges while narrating Europe stories through diverse voices, offering different perspectives and sparking meaningful dialogue“.
