CHARTER Alliance: Guidelines on cultural heritage education & training paths
In the pursuit of fortifying Europe’s cultural heritage sector, CHARTER Alliance stands as a beacon of collaboration and innovation. This consortium unites diverse stakeholders to champion the significance of cultural heritage and foster a resilient and adaptable sector, endeavoring to equip Europe with the necessary expertise to sustain thriving societies and economies.
On January 25th, CHARTER Alliance, in collaboration with ENCATC, unveiled the report Guidelines on innovative/emerging
cultural heritage education and training paths. This report delineates eight distinct pathways within the realm of cultural heritage, pinpointing areas where new educational curricula should be forged or existing ones should be recalibrated to meet the evolving demands and challenges of the sector. Each pathway, outlined as guidelines, meticulously presents its contextual backdrop, sample occupations, key structural components, and curriculum outlines, offering tangible insights for practical implementation.
These pathways delineate realms where CHARTER Alliance advocates for the development of new curricula or the adaptation of existing ones to align with evolving industry requirements.
Designed as a flexible framework, the Guidelines intend to accommodate diverse regional or national education systems and variations in skills needs and gaps. They serve as invaluable resources for educational institutions shaping cultural heritage curricula, organizations devising in-house training programs, prospective students navigating educational pathways, policymakers crafting pertinent legislation, and scholars conducting research within the cultural heritage domain. Moreover, the report aspires to resonate with all stakeholders vested in the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage.
