Lunchtime Presentation | Just Sustainability from the Heart of Communities: the Transformative Power of Socio-Cultural Centres (ENCC)

Where: Online
When: 21 November 2024 13:00 - 14:00

Join us for another CAE Lunchtime Presentation and learn more about European Network of Cultural Centres (ENCC)’s research report, “Just Sustainability from the Heart of Communities: the Transformative Power of Socio-Cultural Centres.

Socio-cultural centres serve as vibrant hubs where culture, community, and sustainability converge. They have the potential to act as catalysts for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and collective action, making them indispensable in addressing the multifaceted challenges confronting our global society. In a rapidly changing world riddled with complexity, they are uniquely positioned to play a pivotal role in steering transitions in a manner that is just, impactful and lasting.

Through close collaboration with 100+ of its members, the European Network of Cultural Centres carried out an action-led research effort aimed to identify, develop and amplify roles that align with and contribute to just sustainability transitions. This research seeks to create a platform for sharing inspiring practices, failures and lessons learned. It is also an advocacy tool to reflect on the role of policymakers and cultural networks in the creation of an enabling and supportive ecosystem.

The presentation will be led by Anna Maria Ranczakowska, lead author & Martina Fraioli, co-author from European Network of Cultural Centres.
