Just Sustainability from the Heart of Communities: the Transformative Power of Socio-Cultural Centres
In a time when the call for sustainable green solutions is more urgent than ever, socio-cultural centres emerge as dynamic hubs where culture, community, and sustainability intersect. They can lead this transitional period, and allow for Just Sustainability solutions to be established, ensuring equal and just opportunities for all parties involved.
These centres are uniquely positioned in society and this enables them to act as catalysts for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and collective action. Their role is essential in order to address the multifaceted challenges and transitions that societies internationally are facing. As our world rapidly changes, and grows in numbers and complexity, socio-cultural centres play a pivotal role in steering transitions in ways that are just, impactful, and lasting.
An interesting read, ENCC‘s latest publication is a presentation of the results of an action-led research aimed at identifying, developing, and emphasizing roles that align with and contribute to just sustainability transitions. It is a collaborative effort of ENCC and more than 100 of ENCC’s members. The research was the first of its kind and of this scale in the European landscape.
The report is offering an overview of the findings of this research, accompanied by policy recommendations that can be of interest to anyone seeking to maximize the effectiveness of their sustainability efforts.
