NEB Prizes 2022 applications are open
Applications are now open for the second edition of the New European Bauhaus prizes. During the first call for applications, the 20 projects which competed at last year’s prizes were ‘embodying’ the values of the New European Bauhaus (‘sustainability, inclusiveness and aesthetics’) and were awarded with 30.000 and 15.000 euros respectively. The number of applications exceeded 2,000.
Following last year, the New European Bauhaus prize 2022 will reward both existing examples and new ideas and concepts in four different categories: “reconnecting with nature”, “regaining a sense of belonging”, “prioritising the places and people that need it the most”, and “shaping a circular industrial ecosystem and supporting life-cycle thinking”. In each of the categories, there are two parallel competition strands: the “New European Bauhaus Awards” – for existing completed examples; and the “New European Bauhaus Rising Stars” – for concepts or ideas submitted by young talents. The winners and runners of the former will both receive a communication package as well as 30,000 and 20,000 euros respectively while the winner and runners of the latter will receive a communications package and 15,000 and 10,000 euros.
Both EU and non-EU nationals can apply here, as long as their concept, idea or project is actually developed and/or physically located in the EU. Also, joint/partner and consortium type applications are possible too, with the same criteria as for EU-based projects. Potential applicants, under the age of 30 on 28 February 2022 can apply for both competition strands while project promoters who are over 30 years of age can apply for the New European Bauhaus Awards with projects finalised within the past two years (older projects are not eligible). The deadline for submissions is on 28 February 2022 at 19:00 CET.
Also, Horizon includes a new funding call in the framework of the New European Bauhaus initiative : “The NEB shaping a greener and fairer way of life in creative and inclusive societies through Architecture, Design and Arts”, with a budget of 6 million euros and a deadline on 20 April 2022 at 17:00 CET. The purpose of the new call is the promotion of multidisciplinary research with the CCIs to create innovative architectural and design solutions in line with the European Green Deal while leveraging the power of creativity and innovation by architects, designers and artists.
