The third Academy Camp organised within the framework of the Capacity Building for European Capitals of Culture (ECoC) project will take place from 24 to 26 November 2021 under the theme “Enhancing European and international cooperation of European Capitals of Culture”. It will be held in a hybrid format at the House of Arts in Veszprém, ECoC 2023, with presentations streamed online and on-site working groups and debates for the Veszprém delivery team.

European and international cooperation is one of the key features of every European Capital of Culture project. It covers a wide range of different thematic areas and of related management tasks. In order to better respond to the specific needs of European Capitals of Culture regarding international cooperation – and more specifically Veszprém – Balaton 2023 – the Academy Camp will address the following themes:

  • The added value of international cultural cooperation, highlighting the diversity of dimensions of cultural cooperation and putting participants in contact with key and relevant actors in the field of cooperation both in Europe and beyond;
  • Management of international cultural cooperation – communication, underlining the value of communication for wider international visibility of the ECoCs and the ECoC community, with a practical approach to the development of communication plans with an international outreach;
  • Management of international cultural cooperation – financing, to analyse how projects are designed and managed, illustrating EU funding opportunities, with contributions by international project managers.

The Academy Camp 3, developed by Inforelais and Interarts, in close cooperation with Veszprém – Balaton 2023, will provide a space for learning and training, as well as for constructive exchange between participants. The lead trainer this time is Sylvia Amann, director of Inforelais. Other confirmed experts are Steve Green (Prasino), Heidi Vogels (TransArtists’ AIR Platform NL), Viktória Szántó (Kabóca Puppet Theatre Veszprém), Sylvain Cornuau (Canada Council for the Arts), Prof. Georg Steiner (Linz Tourismus), Irena Kregar Šegota (Rijeka ECoC 2020),  Barna Petrányi (Pro Progressione), Philipp Dietachmair and Jenneken Aarssen (European Cultural Foundation), Fanni Bobak (Interreg Danube Transnational), Rita Habab (Veszprém – Balaton ECoC 2023), Paulina Maloy (Wroclaw ECoC 2016), Dovilė Butnoriūtė (Kaunas ECoC 2022) and Marjolaine de Bonnafos (Esch ECoC 2022).

The Capacity Building for European Capitals of Culture (ECoC) project is also looking for professionals from different disciplines to join its panel of experts, with the aim of contributing to the capacity building of the teams involved in the implementation of the European Capitals of Culture (ECOCs).
