New portal on the structural funds gives easy access to comparative data

October 10, 2012, 2:46 pm

Today (10 October) at 3 pm, the Italian Minister for territorial cohesion, Fabrizio Barca, will hold a press conference together with the Vice Presidents of the European Parliament, Roberta Angelilli and Gianni Pittella, at the European Parliament to present a new portal on the use of structural funds in Italy called OpenCoesione (www.opencoesione.gov.it).

The aim of the portal is to increase the transparency on the use of EU funds and to give both Italian and European citizens access to data which will help them to evaluate if those resources are spent in an effective way.

The initiative has been strongly supported by Mr. Barca, who feels the urgency of a more active participation of citizens in the decision-making on programming and on the social control on the use of these collective resources.

Use our statement and guide on the structural funds to approach relevant authorities and ask them if they are planning to put in place similar initiatives to increase the access to comparative data on the use of the funds in your country!
