In March 2023, experts raised concerns about the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on human civilization, urging a pause to improve the safety and transparency of AI systems. However, AI development continued rapidly, especially in the audiovisual sector. AI tools were used to enhance visual effects and create generative AI episodes of TV shows.
For audiovisual authors, AI could assist in generating ideas, screenplays, dialogues, and scenes. Still, the risk of AI replacing human creators was a growing concern in various creative industries. The Society of Audiovisual Authors (SAA) emphasized the need for safeguards to ensure AI enhances human creativity while making specific recommendations for AI regulation and copyright in the EU. The key message is that AI should support and enrich human creativity rather than replace it.
