ETC Theatre Green Book

The ETC Theatre Green Book is a collaborative endeavor between European Theatre Convention, Renew Culture, and the Theatre Green Book initiative. It is the international version of the acclaimed ‘Theatre Green Book’ initiative.

This comprehensive, user-friendly tool is designed to guide European theatres towards achieving net-zero emissions in their productions and overall activity. It includes the first ever cross-Europe certification process, that functions as a universal method of measuring sustainable progress across productions, buildings and operations at European theatres.

The Theatre Green Book originally began as a collective project by theatre-makers in the UK but is nowadays supported by theatre-makers all around the globe. It functions as a  ‘network of networks,’ calling for all its international and local member theatre communities , under license,to modify and accoomodate its guiding principles to fit their unique practices. During the 2023/24 season, it was piloted and refined by nine ETC theatres across seven countries.

A useful resource for all theatre professionals, the ETC Theatre Green Book was officially unveiled at the European Theatre Talks event during the Festival d’Avignon.
