Creative shifts: OMC Report on Sustainability and Culture

The open method of coordination (OMC), which is a framework for cooperation between EU Member States on national policies, published a new report yesterday entitled Creative Shifts : empowering culture for sustainable living.

Building upon the research and work of experts in 2024-2025, the report combines the outcomes of international plenary sessions, thematic subgroups and targeted surveys to outline good practices, assess policy tools and formulate recommendations to support the green transition of the cultural and creative sectors across Europe.

Recommendations are included on how to:

• better scale-up existing good practices from the field;
• effectively use existing tools and data for informed decision-making;
• best stimulate the CCS through policies and institutional action;
• amplify knowledge and better sharing successful approaches; and
• mainstream culture into national and EU climate action.
