Beyond Creation: Culture and Health, and Rethinking Culture
Two new knowledge transfer cultural discussions took place earlier this month as part of the ”Beyond creation” project produced by Formare Culturala platform, which explores policy work and research methodologies for cultural advocacy. These discussions follow on from the data synthesis for cultural policy discussion from July 2025.
The first interview concerns research, practice and advocacy at European level for culture and health, in which Kornelia Kiss, Head of Culture at Culture Action Europe, took part alongside Rarița Zbranca, Programme Director of the Cluj Cultural Centre, and Oana Nasui, a Cultural researcher. Their discussion touches upon the historical and contemporary connection between culture and health, how the COVID-19 pandemic acted as a policy catalyst, and how we can bring the evidence and theory underlying culture and health into practice.
The second interview explores some of the key challenges in European cultural policy, from the status of the artist to funding mechanisms and the future of EU cultural programs, in conversation with Oana Nasui, a Cultural researcher, and Elena Polivtseva, co-founder of Culture Policy Room and Author of Culture Action Europe’s State of Culture Report.
