Lunchtime Session | Creative Europe Networks and BIPOC Representation
How can the cultural sector be more welcoming and representative for BIPoC communities*? And what role can Creative Europe networks, which bring together European cultural players and defend their interests in front of the European institutions, play in this endeavour?
On July 3rd from 13.00 – 14.00 CEST, Miriam Amina Fofana will present her report that highlights and analyses the disparity between the cultural sector’s diverse self-awareness and the current reality, which exposes a glaring lack of BIPoC communities, both on stage and behind the scenes. The report is supported by the Reset! Network.
*The acronym BIPoC refers to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. It emphasises Black and Indigenous Identities, highlighting the structural discriminations these communities face. As a political term, BIPoC is both, self-defining and empowering.
