CARE online roundtable discussion: Youth Mental Health and Culture
On 10 April, from 10:00–12:00 CET, we invite you to join the CARE online roundtable discussion. This event will bring together culture professionals, youth workers, and mental health advocates to explore the vital role that artistic and cultural practices can play in improving youth mental health across Europe.
The primary aim of this roundtable is to share valuable artistic and cultural practices that contribute to better mental health for young people. We will also discuss the key elements that make cultural youth projects effective, and identify the challenges that need to be overcome. Through this event, participants will have the chance to learn from leading experts in arts and health, as well as from each other’s experiences, to deepen their understanding of how cultural practices can benefit youth well-being.
Agenda:
1. Welcome and introduction to the CARE project
2. Youth mental health and culture – what we know so far
- Featured Speakers include:
– Edith Wolf Perez, Chairwoman of ARTS for HEALTH AUSTRIA
– Shahin S. Eity, Speaker for the Youth
– Sunita Pandya, National Academy for Social Prescribing, UK
– Nik Dee-Dahlstrom, Finland
– Karilė Mozerytė, MO Museum, Lithuania
3. Sharing practices peer-to-peer: Discussions in breakout rooms
4. Collecting takeaways and closing
The insights generated from this roundtable will directly feed into Culture Action Europe’s advocacy on youth mental health and culture, shaping future policy efforts at the EU level. The conversation will help inform how policies can better support the intersection of culture and mental health in the years to come.
Looking ahead, we will also share details about upcoming online events in the CARE series. On 25 June 2025, we will host a roundtable on Art and Work-Related Well-Being, followed by another session on 17 September 2025 on Culture on Prescription. Additionally, on 20 May 2025, a live event will take place in the European Parliament as part of the Mental Health Summit, where we will discuss Culture and Mental Health in Modern Society, focusing on two panels: Prevention and Management & Treatment. The event will include an evening reception on the Youth Mental Health Action Plan.
The CARE project is co-funded by the European Union.
