Arts, Rights & Justice

March 17, 2017, 4:52 pm

Freedom of art is an universal human right. Many artists call attention to social and political injustices through their art work. The impulse series Arts, Rights & Justice shall provide a platform for dialogue, in order to discuss artistic freedom or the lack there-of and the mission and responsibility of art in our world. http://www.brunnenpassage.at/

First guest is Shahin Najafi – musician, poet, singer and social activist. Since 2012 Najafi is under threat by a fatwa and bounty issued against him. Numerous German and Austrian artists such as Elfriede Jelinek, Günter Grass, Udo Lindenberg, Campino, Günter Wallraff and many more demonstrated their solodarity with him. Currently living in exile in Germany, he continues to sing for a (liberal and) free Iranian society.

In conversation with Sabine Kock (Arts Rights Justice Working Group/CAE).
