Action Group on International Cultural Relations

Culture Action Europe launches a second edition of the Action Group on International Cultural Relations (ICR), co-facilitated by EUNIC Global and Goethe-Institut Brussels.

The initiative responds to the Culture Compass, which foresees the development of a comprehensive EU ICR Strategy by the end of 2027. Building on the International Cultural Relations chapter of Towards the Culture Compass: a Sector Blueprint, the group will bring together cultural networks and organisations to contribute recommendations for this forthcoming strategy.

The Action Group will convene three online meetings between September and November 2026. Participants will reflect on the core principles, narratives and policy priorities that should underpin a future EU ICR strategy, drawing on their experience with international cultural cooperation and existing funding and partnership instruments.

The deliverable of the Action Group will be a proposal outlining key principles and recommendations for a future EU ICR Strategy. In parallel, EUNIC Global and Goethe-Institut Brussels will consult a broader pool of EUNIC members and international partners to ensure that the process reflects diverse perspectives and expectations regarding the future of EU international cultural relations.

The Action Group on International Cultural Relations is currently open to all Culture Action Europe members who contributed to the Sector Blueprint chapter on ICR, members of EUNIC Global and international partners.
