CAE Hub UK

Culture Action Europe’s UK Hub brings together cultural advocates, policymakers, and professionals navigating post-Brexit challenges to rebuild and strengthen the UK’s cultural ties with Europe. Focused on policy advocacy, transnational collaboration, and youth engagement, the hub leverages strategic alliances and campaigns to reintegrate the UK into EU cultural frameworks while addressing the sector’s evolving needs in a shifting political landscape.

Our Goals

The UK Hub is dedicated to revitalizing the UK’s cultural connections with Europe through targeted advocacy and collaboration. Central to our mission is securing the UK’s participation in key EU programs like Creative Europe and Erasmus+, ensuring access to funding and mobility for artists and creatives. We aim to amplify the sector’s voice in policymaking, exemplified by contributions to the Welsh Parliament’s Culture and EU Relations report, which advocates for streamlined arrangements for creative workers and renewed cultural diplomacy. Addressing post-Brexit losses, we prioritize campaigns to boost creative exports, transnational exchanges, and alignment with EU sustainability goals, including the New European Bauhaus and UN SDGs. By engaging new allies in the House of Lords and fostering partnerships with candidate countries like the Balkans and Iceland, we strive to reposition the UK as a proactive partner in Europe’s cultural ecosystem while addressing youth inclusion and green transitions through initiatives like the Youth Addendum to the Porto Santo Charter.

What We Do

The UK Hub drives change through policy influence, strategic campaigns, and cross-border collaboration. We advocate for the UK’s reintegration into Creative Europe and Erasmus+ and mobilise around creative exports and touring rights. We champion cultural issues at the national level, and we explore international partnerships while aligning with CAE’s green agenda through sessions on the New European Bauhaus and SDGs. Youth engagement is prioritized via the Youth Addendum and collaborations with CAE networks, ensuring that young voices shape cultural policy. Additionally, we support members in European opportunities and foster dialogue through events. By uniting campaigns on funding, mobility, and sustainability, we aim to rebuild the UK’s role as a dynamic, equitable participant in Europe’s cultural future.
