A Little Guide to the EU-UK Negotiations

In June 2016 a majority (51.9%) of British voters elected to leave the European Union, yet 96% of the UK cultural sector indicated its desire to remain1. In this little guide, Culture Action Europe (CAE) considers possible models for the kind of relationship that the UK may develop with the EU within the framework of the UK vote to leave. This critical relationship remains a blank canvas. Recent political declarations suggest the preferable options from the EU and UK side but they are far from representing a negotiation position.

In this little guide, CAE first considers the benefits the UK has gained from EU membership, before moving on to analyse several scenarios and their potential impact on the UK cultural scene.
