Do you want to: learn more about how to organise an international conference? Or practice your English? Or learn more about the connection between culture, sustainable development and heritage? Or listen to experts about the future of Europe?
Culture Action Europe (CAE) is looking for volunteers to help to co-organise its international cultural conference – titled “Beyond the Obvious – Belonging and Becoming“ in Rome at «Palazzo delle Esposizione» on 15-17 November 2017.
In the context of the conference, CAE will bring to Rome more than 200 participants from the fields of performing arts, literature, visual arts, cross-arts initiatives, design, community centres etc. as well as city and political representatives.
Save the date: Volunteers are invited to join an orientation session on 10 November in Rome.
WHAT DO WE EXPECT FROM YOU?
Culture Action Europe looks for enthusiastic volunteers who feel passionate to make the Beyond the Obvious Conference in Rome the best BtO so far. We hope that all volunteers are friendly, have good communication skills (English is a must!) and a positive attitude. Voluntary work is not paid and Culture Action Europe cannot provide accommodation or pay for travel expenses for volunteers coming from outside of Rome. We are looking for volunteers in all age groups, but you should be at least 18 years old when the conference begins. You should be able to work flexibly throughout the three days of the conference and the preparation days before. Daily shifts are usually approx. 8 hours long, but actual working hours depend on the conference programme.
The following tasks have to be fulfilled:
- Co-design level • this restricted group of students will work starting for the full week of the Conference (from 13 to 17 November) to co-design and implement – under the leadership of CAE – different elements of the Conference: from a collaborative usage of the space to the “back of the room” facilitation needed for the Conference. Learning is guaranteed by a continuous back and forth between practical elements and theory behind.
- Support level • this group of volunteers would work between 15-17 November and are mainly needed for processes such as: registration of participants; logistic support to participants on the ground (practical info on the city, taxi support, restaurants support…); practical information desk during the conference, occasional help on logistics when needed.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT AS A VOLUNTEER?
As a volunteer you are an important part of the success of the Beyond the Obvious conference. You get a glimpse behind the scenes and you surely meet a lot of new interesting people. The international atmosphere and a wide variety of discussions and workshops grant you an eye opening experience. To thank our volunteers, we give you free accreditation to the conference and of course an unforgettable experience. All volunteers are able to use their accreditation to participate in the programme. All volunteers will have a declaration of the work done and can access to recommendation letters if needed.
Culture Action Europe (CAE) is the widest European cultural network uniting over 140 cultural stakeholders, networks and organisations in the field of arts, culture, creative industry and heritage, throughout Europe and beyond, representing over 80.000 voices. Its yearly travelling conference, “Beyond the Obvious” will nudge provocative discussions, spark inspiration and new dialogues by combining classical elements of the conference with hands-on laboratory-style working sessions.
