Micaela Casalboni is an actress, a theatre teacher, responsible for international and intercultural projects and co-art director of Company Teatro dell’Argine (www.teatrodellargine.org), which she founded in May 1994 along with other twenty artists. Home of TdA is the municipal theatre ITC Teatro di San Lazzaro di Savena (Bologna, Italy), which the Company leads since 1998, with an idea of art for social change, active citizenship, intercultural and intergenerational dialogue and audience development.
As an actress, Casalboni played in many TdA shows in Italy and Europe (Tiergartenstrasse 4-Un giardino per Ofelia, Liberata, I cavalli alla finestra, Pitùr); as a teacher, she leads theatre workshops with teenagers and adults, both professionals and non professionals. She is also regularly involved in workshops and seminars in the frame of masters organised by Bologna University, Departments of Education Sciences and Disciplines of Art Music and Show.
Her contribution to the art direction goes along several ways, but mainly in creating and implementing international and intercultural art projects: Crossing Paths (on poverty and social exclusion, involving artists and teenagers in Italy, Denmark and UK - EU Culture Programme 2010-2011), Acting Diversity (on the issue of political asylum right, involving teenagers and refugees in Italy, Palestine, UK - Anna Lindh Foundation 2012-2013), Europe’s Footprints (art project and network of European artists and intellectuals for John Mpaliza’s march for peace in DR Congo, 2012), Lampedusa Mirrors (on migration, involving teenagers and young artists and educators in Italy and Tunisia - Tandem Shaml Programme, 2014-2015).
